A man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot district after allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl on a moving state Roadways bus. The accused, identified as Rajkishore, was detained following the child’s mother’s intervention and a formal police complaint.

A woman from Raipura was returning home with her two daughters after medical treatment in Prayagraj. As the bus passed through Mau town, Rajkishore, a resident of Manikpur, sat beside her. He reportedly engaged her in conversation before placing the toddler on his lap and assaulting her.
The child’s cries alerted the mother, who confronted the accused, restrained him, and took him to the nearest police station. Authorities confirmed the arrest and registered a case based on her complaint.
Police response and next steps
Chitrakoot Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh stated that the accused remains in custody. The victim has been sent for a medical examination, and the investigation is ongoing.
The case will be pursued in a Fast Track Court to ensure swift justice, Singh added. Authorities aim to file the charge sheet at the earliest.
