A 45-year-old security guard was shot dead in Munger district, Bihar, while asleep at his workplace, with his family alleging the attack stemmed from a kidnapping case involving his daughter.

Subodh Yadav, employed at a local brick kiln, was on night duty when armed assailants entered his guard room around 9 pm on Wednesday and fired twice at close range. Workers discovered his body after hearing gunshots, but the attackers had already fled under cover of darkness.

Family alleges revenge over kidnapping case

Yadav’s family stated that an FIR had been filed months earlier against Devan Yadav, his son, and others for the kidnapping of Yadav’s daughter, linked to a love affair. They claimed the accused had pressured them to withdraw the case and had threatened Yadav’s life just two days prior to the murder.

Police launch investigation

Munger Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood took charge of the scene, with forensic teams collecting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage from the brick kiln. Police have detained two individuals for questioning and assured continuous raids to apprehend the suspects.

Yadav’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities stated that all angles of the case are being thoroughly investigated based on the family’s allegations.
