India’s squad for the England ODIs and Zimbabwe T20Is has a fresh look, with Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi stepping in for the injured Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy. The BCCI confirmed the changes after both bowlers suffered hamstring injuries during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge.

Injury blow for Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy

Harshit Rana reported sudden discomfort in his right hamstring, with scans revealing a Grade 1 injury. Varun Chakaravarthy, meanwhile, suffered a more severe Grade 2 hamstring tear on his left leg. Both will now head to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further assessment.

This isn’t the first setback for either. Varun fractured a toe during IPL 2026, played through pain, and missed the Afghanistan series and Ireland T20Is before his England return (0/35, 1/37). Rana’s knee injury during the 2026 T20 World Cup warm-ups sidelined him for months, requiring surgery and rehab before his Ireland comeback.

Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi earn call-ups

Yadav, fresh off a stellar IPL with Lucknow Super Giants (16 wickets in 14 matches), made his ODI debut against Afghanistan, snaring three wickets in two games. He also earned his T20I cap in Ireland and featured in three matches against England.

Bishnoi, who took 11 wickets in 9 IPL games for Rajasthan Royals, has been a T20I regular since 2022 (46 matches). Despite a tough outing in Manchester, he’s back to fill Varun’s shoes in Zimbabwe.

India’s upcoming fixtures

India’s England ODIs kick off on July 14, 16, and 19, followed by a quick Zimbabwe trip for T20Is on July 23, 25, and 26. The stage is set—can Yadav and Bishnoi seize their moment?
