Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth conducted a three-day review of security and operational preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir from July 7 to 9, marking his first visit to the Northern Command since assuming office.

Security Assessment in Forward Areas

General Seth evaluated the security environment and combat readiness of Indian Army formations deployed along the LoC and in the hinterland. His tour included visits to the Chinar Corps headquarters in Srinagar, White Knight Corps headquarters, and forward areas in Poonch, Rajouri, and Sunderbani.

In Srinagar, he received briefings on the Northern Command’s operational perspective and the Chinar Corps’ preparedness. The Army Chief also reviewed counter-terror operations, inter-agency coordination, and security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra.

Engagements with Local Authorities

During the visit, General Seth met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss security, stability, and inter-agency coordination in the Union Territory.

Focus on Technology and Community Initiatives

The Army Chief assessed technology integration efforts, capability enhancement, and indigenous innovations aimed at improving operational effectiveness. He also reviewed community support initiatives in border villages, commending troops for their role in nation-building and maintaining peace.

Concluding the visit, General Seth praised personnel for their professionalism and urged continued operational readiness, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
