A 41-year-old MBA graduate, identified as Rudresh, was arrested by Bengaluru police on July 2 for allegedly printing and circulating counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes across Karnataka. The accused was found hiding inside a box bed at his residence in Sampige Layout, Gangondanahalli area.
Counterfeit Currency Investigation Unfolds
The investigation began when Rudresh allegedly used a fake Rs 500 note to buy cigarettes at Huliyaru village, raising suspicion among locals. The Huliyaru Police launched a probe, tracing the counterfeit note to Rudresh's residence. Upon reaching his house, police encountered resistance from his parents, who had allegedly hidden him inside the box bed to evade arrest.
Links to Previous Counterfeit Racket
Police have uncovered Rudresh's alleged involvement in a previous counterfeit currency case busted by Davangere Police in 2024. In that operation, a gang was found to have printed and circulated counterfeit currency worth nearly Rs 20 lakh over three months. Authorities suspect Rudresh resumed the counterfeit business after being released from jail.
During interrogation, officials are seeking to determine the extent of the counterfeit network, identify other individuals involved, and establish the distribution of the forged currency. Another suspect connected to the operation remains absconding, and police are working to trace and arrest him.
