Two men have been arrested in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district for the brutal murder and dismemberment of their 22-year-old friend, Hussain Ansari, whose remains were found in an abandoned stone quarry. Police recovered a head and two severed legs from the water-filled site on July 9, confirming the victim’s identity through forensic evidence.
The accused, identified as Arman Khan (22) and Md Shahnwaj Ahmad alias Raj (25), confessed to killing Ansari during a violent dispute at Shahnwaj’s home in Durgabadi Lane on July 4, Lohardaga SP Sadique Anwar Rizvi said. The altercation reportedly escalated after the trio consumed alcohol.

According to investigators, the suspects fatally beat Ansari before using a hexa blade to dismember his body. The head and legs were placed in a sack and dumped in the quarry, while other body parts were scattered in nearby forests and bushes.
Evidence and Arrests in the Lohardaga Dismemberment Case
Following the suspects’ confessions, police retrieved additional body parts, the murder weapon, and the scooter used to transport the remains. An FIR has been filed under the BNS at Sadar police station after the victim’s father, Mikail Mir, lodged a complaint.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the dispute. Police have not ruled out further arrests as the probe advances.
