Five minors have been arrested in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar for the fatal stabbing of a 34-year-old man following a dispute over mud splashing. The victim, Bansi Lal, died from multiple knife wounds on July 9.

Ashok Vihar Stabbing: How the Incident Unfolded

Bansi Lal, a CCTV shop employee in Old Delhi’s Lala Lajpat Rai Market, was walking near Prem Bari Pul toward Keshav Puram when mud from the canal-side path splashed onto a group of boys. An argument ensued, escalating into a physical confrontation.

One of the juveniles allegedly drew a knife and stabbed Lal in the chest, abdomen, and limbs. The others joined the assault before fleeing. Lal was found unconscious and declared dead on arrival at Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Authorities registered a murder case and used CCTV footage and local intelligence to identify the accused. The five minors were apprehended, and the weapon used in the attack was recovered.

The area near the canal, known for accumulated mud and slush, was frequently used as an open toilet. The investigation remains ongoing.
