Four members of the Deepak Nandal gang were killed and three police personnel injured in an encounter in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok on Thursday, officials said. The operation followed intelligence about armed men in a Mahindra Scorpio targeting a local businessman’s residence.

The Crime Branch acted on a tip about suspicious activity near the home of Vishal Berry, son of SGT University’s founder. Police reported the gang had begun firing at the residence with sophisticated weapons when officers arrived. Berry had received repeated ransom demands from a wanted gangster based abroad.

During the exchange, officers surrounded the suspects, killing four and injuring one. Three policemen sustained bullet wounds and were hospitalized. Senior officers, including the DCP-Crime and DCP-East, reached the scene shortly after.

Forensic Investigation Underway

Teams from the Forensic Sciences Laboratory collected evidence from the site. Authorities stated that details on the criminals’ identities, criminal records, and seized weapons would be released after verification.

Berry and his family were rescued unharmed, police confirmed. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
