According to police, the victim, Sanjeev Tiwari, was found injured and was immediately shifted to the district hospital, where doctors referred him to Kanpur due to his critical condition. Tiwari later told police that his wife had tied him to a cot, held him captive, and assaulted him, also using electrical wires to give him electric shocks.

Fatehpur Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik stated that the couple frequently argued over the husband's alcohol consumption, which led to the escalation of the dispute on Sunday night.
