A 22-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl in West Bengal's Baruipur was shot dead by police early Tuesday during a confrontation at the crime scene, officials reported. The incident occurred when the accused, identified as Prabash Mondal, snatched a police personnel's firearm and opened fire while being taken to Surjyapur for reconstruction of the crime scene.

Details of the Police Encounter

According to police, a team from Baruipur Police Station took Mondal to the crime scene at around 12:45 am for reconstruction.
